The forum aims to be a conciliation platform of different ideas about Quebec public finances; it will bring together a bunch of knowledgeable actors of public finance, from public as well as private sectors. This includes former prime ministers, finance ministers, leaders of labor organizations, profit and non-profit organisations representatives and academics, that linger on the current state of Quebec public finances. This forum aims to exchange views on several public finance issues and discuss how to handle them and point out to the most beneficial for Quebec. It will give participants the opportunity to express their views and to offer solutions and share them with an engaged audience. The forum will address the need for a common strategy and will underline the benefit of a fruitful dialogue that will clarify the objectives. Clarification and dialogue will certainly convince Quebequers that they will benefit from the sacrifice they are asked to concede
The roundtable will be held at the School of Business of the UQAM, Friday March 27, 2015 from 13:30 to 15:30; it will be preceded by discussions in workshops from 9;00 to 12:00, aimed to the preparation of the round table. The event will be crowned by an evening closing ceremony marked by the speech of a prominent personality of public finances. In order to promote exchanges between participants, a lunch buffet and a dinner are planned.
Convinced of your interest in Quebec's finances improvement, we invite you to participate to this event and enrich the debate by your experience and commitment to Quebec prosperity. We invite you to think of the best strategy for Quebec public finances improvement, to think of fiscal policy may contribute to the correction of budgetary structural aberrations. We invite you to point to areas where you think it is urgent to take corrective action, and provide an overview of the way in which Quebec could respond collectively and appropriately to the most complex challenges facing it.
Looking forward to welcoming you.
